About Us: We are a dynamic and forward-thinking company looking for an experienced Jira/Confluence Administrator to join our team on a part-time basis. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing our Jira and Confluence environments, ensuring they are aligned with team processes, and driving improvements through automation and best practices. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong technical expertise in Jira/Confluence, DevOps, and agile methodologies to make a direct impact on our project management and collaboration tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Jira Administration & Automation:
- Configure and maintain Jira projects, workflows, boards, and issue types to align with our team’s processes and objectives.
- Develop and maintain custom automation rules, including automating status changes for Epics and Initiatives based on child tickets.
- Update and improve existing automation rules (e.g., automation that copies components from parent tickets).
- Manage and optimize dashboards, including the creation of software progress tracking against planned timelines and visualizations for critical path items.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Jira performance, permissions, and user configurations.
- Confluence Administration & Process Optimization:
- Administer and configure Confluence spaces, templates, and permissions to improve collaboration and documentation workflows.
- Work closely with stakeholders to advise on best practices for content organization, template usage, and user access.
- Streamline integration between Jira and Confluence, ensuring efficient use of linked issues and documentation.
- DevOps Integration & Optimization:
- Support DevOps teams by configuring Jira’s DevOps tools, including removing or hiding unnecessary fields, and integrating Jira with other tools as needed.
- Advise on and assist with the migration of Jira Service Management (JSM) or Service Desk workflows and support request forms.
- Enhance the software project picker process for efficiency, consolidating fields, and simplifying workflows where possible.
- System and Process Improvements:
- Regularly review and clean up the Jira instance, removing obsolete projects, users, and configurations to ensure optimal performance.
- Consolidate and refine the existing project setup processes to improve consistency and reduce errors.
- Collaborate with teams to recommend and implement process improvements within Jira and Confluence, ensuring that the tools evolve to meet the needs of the business.
- Assist in setting up and configuring new Jira projects, including working with stakeholders to define requirements and ensuring that the correct workflows and fields are in place.
- General Support and Troubleshooting:
- Provide ongoing support and training for users, addressing issues with workflows, permissions, and tool configurations.
- Ensure Jira and Confluence instances are up-to-date and comply with internal security and governance policies.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience as a Jira/Confluence Administrator or in a similar role, with a strong focus on system configuration, automation, and process improvement.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong experience with Jira administration, including workflows, custom fields, permissions, dashboards, and automation.
- Proficiency in Confluence administration, including space management, page templates, and integration with Jira.
- Familiarity with DevOps tools and processes, especially how Jira integrates with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Experience with Jira Service Management (JSM) is a plus.
- Knowledge of scripting languages (Groovy, Jira Query Language – JQL) to create custom automation rules and configurations.
- Soft Skills:
