Data Governance Architect:

There is a growing need to improve the quality and standardize the data. We are seeking a new governance architect to implement data systems that standardize data, improve the quality of data, as well as implement effective data policies and standards. Our new architect will help design a framework for making quality data more accessible across the company, ensuring lineage provenance, and establishing trust in the source of our data. 

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with business users to understand data and information gaps and needs with enterprise focus on data governance.
  • Create roadmaps and designs for data governance processes and system implementation, communicate plans to business units and get buy-in.
  • Lead data governance council activities consult with data stewards, data managers, data owners and and data custodians to bring data standardization, quality and data access policies to the council for discussion and approval.
  • Work with data governance program manager, project manager and data governance analysts on implementation of data governance process and tools at the enterprise level.
  • Maintain key data governance deliverables/assets, including data policies, data standards and data management roles and decision frameworks.
  • Research modern data governance tools, evaluate fit for needs of the organization, facilitate, promote adoption among business users.
  • Document, assess, influence, and synthesize business requirements to develop, enable and advance data governance and stewardship capabilities.
  • Explore diverse perspectives and consistently behave sensitively toward differences in cultural norms, expectations, and ways of communicating. Work effectively with others who have different perspectives, backgrounds, and/or work styles.
  • Continually sustain the Inclusive Leadership Certification (ILC) through the Explorer level on an annual basis.

Recommended qualifications:

  • Experience: Six or more years combined data governance framework building, data analysis, and data governance system implementation experience. Demonstrate leadership in data governance process design, tool implementation, driving adoption of data governance processes and tools across the enterprise. Experience successfully leading or implementing at least one full cycle of data governance processes and tools at the enterprise level.
  • Aside from governing big data, the ideal candidate will also have experience in master data management and familiarity with cloud providers such as AWS. 
  • Also essential are strong communication skills, business acumen, and the ability to influence diverse groups of people.
  • Education: A bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information technology or a related field.
