The Role
A Principal Software Engineer is responsible for guiding the architecture and technical direction of software development here. In addition to software architecture, in this job you will be responsible for guiding teams and mentoring other engineers. You will work closely with product management to understand business needs and guide projects from conception through implementation. You will lead one or more of Communities of Practice (COPs), assisting the participants in their understanding and usage of the concepts, tools, and techniques relating to the community's focus.

• Architect systems from product requirements and document technical trade-offs
• Guide engineering teams in the adoption of architectural standards and approaches
• Facilitate communication and foster best practices by leading Communities of Practice
• Build solutions to deliver functionality and scale by leveraging a cloud-native architecture
• Review functional requirements and analyze solutions and software design
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring and direction to other team members
• Design and develop REST APIs and other code that is reliable, maintainable, and extendable
• Translate business needs and requirements into technical specifications
• Lead and participate in design/code reviews with teams
• Bring experience with Scrum/Agile SDLC processes
• Interview and provide technical assessments of employment candidates
• Research and prototype software solutions that engineers can reference
• Drive engineering team towards best practices in continuous integration (CI) and delivery (CD)

Engineer Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent discipline
• 5+ years of experience in software development
• Experience in software architecture
